Shop Of the Week- Viva Terra Vintage 4

This week’s Shop of the Week is Viva Terra Vintage, owned by Tracey.

What is the meaning behind your shop name?

Viva Terra means living earth. One of the things I love most about buying and selling vintage is that I am playing a part in keeping our planet healthy. Reusing rather than buying new helps one less thing end up in a landfill. Vintage can be such a big part of leading an eco-friendly life style.

How did you get your start selling vintage?
I have always loved scouring charity shops, thrift store,s and estate sales looking for items that needed new homes. When my kids started college I wanted to be able to help them with their expenses. I decided to turn my hobby into a small business and things kind of took off from there.

What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?

The favorite item in my shop right now would have to be this Tommy Traveler suitcase. I love the rich leather and brass hardware. In general I love vintage luggage and am always on the look out for it.

What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?

This brass lamp was sold to a set designer to be used in a new movie that is being filmed in Philadelphia. The movie is Last Flag Standing and stars Steve Carrell and Laurence Fishburn. The lamp is going to be used in the bedroom of Steve Carrell’s character. I thought that was rather cool. It is not the first time I have sold items to be used in film or TV and it is always fun to see the item “in action”.

SOLD!

Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?

I have a website vivaterravintage.com.

About Mary - PassedBy

I have always enjoyed finding and using vintage items in my home, and am especially fond of vintage linens with embroidery or handwork details. I collect a wide variety of vintage goods including classroom memorabilia and toys. As a seller, I try to follow the advice - buy what you love. This makes it so much easier to create an online shop with vintage items I would gladly use in my own home.
