Today’s decorating ideas are from Loretta at Moonstruck Cottage. Here is what she is sharing with us….
Most of my fall decor is natural. Oh, I have lots of fall-themed stuff packed away in containers in my storage room, but lately I can never seem to find the time (or the energy!) to dig it all out.
We have lots of hydrangea bushes on our property, so here I have arranged cut flowers in a large vintage wooden salad bowl. I adore hydrangeas!
This is a lantana plant in an antique copper planter. It is sitting on an old architectural tile on an old wrought iron chair. Colorful pumpkins add to the fall theme.
Here I have cut a few small branches from one of our Japanese maple trees and placed them in a worn silverplate pitcher. (The pitcher is available in my shop.) Sitting next to the pitcher is a vintage Napco turkey salt and pepper shaker set.
This is an ornamental pepper plant that I purchased at my local nursery. I love the way the little peppers look like berries. This is hard for me to believe, but I’ve owned the clay planter for over 30 years – so I guess that makes it vintage! I remember buying it soon after we bought our first home.
I love the fall season – the bright, sunny, cool days; the wondrous colors of the turning leaves; and the way the slant of the sunlight casts long shadows. The one thing that I don’t like about fall is that winter is right around the corner!

True beauty and great inspiration!!!
Loretta, I have a couple of those clay planters but have never had them look as good as yours with the cute pepper plant! 🙂
Such a nice article! LOL, Loretta, we have SOOO many things in common 🙂 Thank you for sharing, Lea
Loretta, those are fabulous ideas! Since I recently purchased a new home I’ve been working on bringing in more plants. You have given me some great ideas. Thank you!
Wonderful ideas, Loretta. I love the colors of Fall, too. Thank you for the post.
Love it — So happy to see Fall is here
As a gardener I am really intrigued by that ornamental pepper plant and the charming vintage container you put it.
I love that ornamental pepper plant, so colorful!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Loretta, you have inspired me. I’ll be heading outside and “see” what I can find to bring a little Fall decor into my home. Thanks for the inspiration.
So beautiful…great ideas!
Thanks for your lovely comments, everyone! The ornamental pepper plant is called Filius Blue Chile Pepper. You can grow it from seeds, and I see the seeds are available on Etsy. From what I have read, the little peppers are edible, but they are fiery hot. I haven’t tried one…and I don’t intend to!. 🙂
Stunning photography, Loretta! Beautiful flowers in wonderful vessels. Thank you for sharing!

So pretty, Loretta, with great ideas I’m going to borrow. Love your chocolate set, too. It’s fall, y’all!
Beautiful fall decor Loretta! I do love your architectural tile on the old wrought iron chair.
Love your choices of plants and the pots and vessels you have them in but oh those hydrangeas are gorgeous!
Love the staging of your photos & the subtle colors & whimsical/unconventional items you used… we share some of the same tastes in décor 🙂
