The good masters of suspense know how to twist a tale just enough to make us grow goosebumps, scream our tonsils out, and maybe, if they are particularly gifted, make us need a dry pair of pants. Whether their particular medium is film, books or even amusement park rides, thrill spinners know that blindsiding us with the thing we never saw coming is what suspense lovers live for.
This week’s slightly diabolical and twisted challenge was to tap into your inner Hitchcock or Rod Serling. To tell a story or pay tribute to a suspense classic that will leave us breathless with an-ti-ci….PA-tion. To do that, you need to start in a place that is wholesome and fresh and lovely. A place like Dot’s shop…
…where the governess steals the key to the forbidden attic room
…or the detective finds a faded photograph in an abandoned suitcase
…or where the housewife puts something in the blender that one wouldn’t ordinarily find in a smoothie
