We asked each new member a few questions to get acquainted with them. Read on and join me in a huge welcome to our new team members!

First up is Aya from BingeonVintage

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A) Through a stumble search

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I did a bit of searching for a vintage community where my input can serve others and also where I can receive knowledge from other collectors/sellers. I want to better myself in my passion and journey. It seemed very active and caring from the threads I read.

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) To bring our heads together in order to learn and better the whole. Hopefully I could give my input, and opinion to better our vintage passions. It could be an opportunity behind a hidden door for my self and everyone in the community.

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A) My name is Aya. Born and raised in Chicago. Currently living in Washington state with my picker husband and 1.5 year old daughter. Everyone around me is a picker. I choose to surround myself this way because it is what I truly enjoy. I absolutely find so much joy in vintage tee shirts. It is currently what I focus on in my shop.

Next is Julie from StellaErwins

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A) Dot and Mimi told me about the team and encouraged me to join

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I need help with Pinterest and other social media and both Dot and Mimi suggested this is the place for assistance

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) Good question and my time is somewhat limited due to a more than full time day job. However, my work has been published in national magazines twice and a third is coming up soon. And I am quite a good writer, so perhaps I could pen some blog articles for the team. If you are open to that let me know and we can talk about how many I might be able to produce in 2016 and on what topic – not social media. 🙂

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A)Julie Jansen- suburban gardener, emergency manager, swimmer and future full time artist.

Next is Nancy from FredsDiscoveries

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A) I found the Vesties Team through friends, Terri and Kathy. I was looking for a team that would be more informative than game promoting. I wanted a team that would encourage friendship and business growth for all members.

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I am a retired elementary school teacher. Continuing to learn is important to me, but also I wanted to able to share and pass on what I have learned with others. Yes, I will activitly take part in discussions, and encourage people along the way. That encouragement is what makes Etsy a special place to sell ones “wares”.

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) A little over two years ago, my husband and I started our Etsy shop. We love going to autions and estate sales where we discover some beautiful glass from the various 1900s glass making companies of both United State and Europe. We love discovering the history behind the items we find. We love passing these treasures on to others. We love hearing the stories where a buyer is thrilled in their discovery of item from our shop that brings back fond memories of a loved one.

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A) Our shop include glass things from small animal paperweights, vast vary of candy dishes and flower vases, to various sets of depression dishes and beautiful collector plates. We have belt buckles to toy tractors, and even a few tapersty blankets finds their way into our shop. We invite you to come visit us and enjoy your stay.

Now, Francois of DiversCites

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A) Terri from 2HandChic – who I’d been in the same team with, enthusiastically suggested your team last week.

Q) What made you want to join?

A) So as I am by nature a curious person, I’ve paid a visit to it and
liked the general atmosphere, the enterprising mind, the desire to improve our shops and the receptiveness of the team leaders.

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) It’s now almost three years that I’ve opened my shop on Etsy, and after experiencing many different approaches, testing them and making mistakes, I certainly have a personal experience to share with the team members. I’m convinced that innovation and creativeness are the fuel of success, so I’d love to participate in such discussions.

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

Why the name? Diverscités is more than an easy play on words, the reflection of our multi cultural family and the fact that we have lived in many towns and countries. The diversity applies also to the items I’m offering in my shop, even if I find it difficult to keep a balance between them.

I’m a retired engineer and have decided these last years to do what I like instead of doing what I used to know best in my professional career. Things such as mentoring local entrepreneurs, giving time to a community organization, and a shop where I can be next to antique or vintage paper ephemeras. I’ve started many years ago to collect postal history and am now focusing it on the town where I was born.

Next up is SouthernVintage3822

A) I searched Etsy teams looking for a vintage team with active members and similar merchandise.

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I read the guidelines for joining and I really liked the “strictness” of them 🙂 I like the fact that this team really seems well coordinated and monitored.

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) I plan on being very active on this board. I do enjoy creating treasuries and being featured in treasuries as well as posting on the daily threads. Being a relatively new shop (3 months) I need all the help I can get 🙂

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A)  I am a full time working wife and mom who is trying to add an Etsy business into the mix in hopes of one day dropping the full time job to run my Etsy store full time.

Now lets meet Laurie from WindChimeGirl

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A) I found the Vesties Team by researching my items to post & kept seeing your team in the key words, noticing your sales & marketing.

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I wanted to join because I really want to take my shop to the next level. I have been selling on Etsy for several years, however think that I am not reaching my full potential & need to generate more profitable sales. Who better to network with than the people that do it best! 🙂

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) However I can. I have lots to learn. In addition I have been in the garment industry most of my life…….retail buyer, merchandiser, designer, overseas production…….all facets of the business. So if I can be of help to anyone on the team, I am more than happy to share my experience & expertise.

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A) I have been blessed & fortunate enough to have had a successful career in the garment industry (oops, see above). I have traveled the world for inspiration, worked in all levels of the business, worked for & then later sold, merchandised & manufactured for the world’s largest retailer. I loved seeing my creation on happy customers on the streets of the United States. When the economy turned sour I was working at my own consulting business…….now working hard to get something sustainable going by giving new life to old, respected, treasured things. Reaching people who appreciate the charm, quality, and history of vintage products. I started out making wind chimes from silverware & funky pieces I found here & there. In my search for the pieces I realized that I really enjoy the hunt for vintage merchandise, learning about the history & helping others enjoy these treasures as well.

Last up is Cindy of SparklyLark

Q) How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

A ) I’d seen the team listing on the ‘My Teams’ page and then a trusted Esty friend recommended that apply to the team. I checked out the Vesties page and really liked the fact that the team was a group who was willing to share knowledge and ideas. I read about the team and what was expected of me as a team member and I knew that this team was a perfect fit for me.

Q) What made you want to join?

A) I wanted to join Vesties because I liked that the team focus is on knowledge and information, not promotional games.

Q) How do you see yourself participating in the team?

A) I like what the Vesties team has to offer, and I also feel that I have something to offer the team. I want to learn as much as I can from other sellers about what they have found works for their shops (and sometimes more importantly, what doesn’t.) And I want to share my knowledge with others. Learning from others, learning by trial and error, and sometimes, just learning by accident has helped me redefine and focus my shop and my goals. I would like to pass on any info that might help others.

I’m looking forward to participating in team discussions. I like the camaraderie of threads, and the chance to meet new people and make new friends. I’m also excited about sharing ideas.

Q) Tell us a bit about who you are.

A) I’m a married mom of one. Our family loves music, the outdoors and hanging out together. I enjoy reading and DIY projects. I have a passion for vintage that started in my teen years.

I really love it when I find some great vintage piece that is dusty and long-forgotten and I am able to find it a new home. I have purchased many items that have been passed over numerous times. I’m the softy that scoops up all the unwanteds at the end of estate sales. And sometimes, when those items are cleaned up, they are the items that seem to be the most popular! I get great satisfaction when a customer tells me that something they purchased from my shop is now one of their prized possessions. I’ve been lucky enough to hear that quite a few times. Every time I do, I’m just more passionate to make it happen again!

Please join me in a warm welcome to all of our new members. Don’t forget to stop by their shops and get to know each one a bit more.

Till next month,

Pam
