Shop of the Week- JustVintage2 5

This week’s Shop of the Week is JustVintage2, owned by Wanda.

What is the meaning behind your shop name?

No real meaning. When I first began selling back in 1997, I was Aunt Lucy’s Parlor, named for my grandmother. I wasn’t quite satisfied with that and a couple of years later, changed to Snapdragon Antiques. But still wasn’t satisfied. When I opened a brick and mortar shop I wanted something a little more trendy. I’d heard of a shop named, simply, “Vintage” and I decided to go with Just Vintage. Just Vintage was taken, but not being used, on Etsy, so I added the number 2 to it for my Etsy store. I’ve recently added “Home” to it for my blog and will answer to Just Vintage or Just Vintage Home. Or “Hey, you.”

How did you get your start selling vintage?

It’s something I’d wanted to do since learning about antique dealers when I was a kid. It took about 40 years, but when a tiny antique mall opened in our town with very low space rent, I took the plunge and never looked back. I began selling online at the same time. It’s been quite the journey.

What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?

Oh, there are so many! But I think this Terry Toons silk scarf with Mighty Mouse in the center is a particular favorite. It took me years to decide to list it. I’ve never seen another like it.

What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?

An album for plants. Music to grow by. “Plantasia.” It was in my mother’s record collection and it sold for $67.00!

Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?

I do! I have a booth in Angel’s Antique Mall in Opelika, Alabama (Booth D26) where my husband sells his hand built furniture and I sell larger, vintage items. I also have a shop on my blog at justvintagehome.com

About Mary - PassedBy

I have always enjoyed finding and using vintage items in my home, and am especially fond of vintage linens with embroidery or handwork details. I collect a wide variety of vintage goods including classroom memorabilia and toys. As a seller, I try to follow the advice - buy what you love. This makes it so much easier to create an online shop with vintage items I would gladly use in my own home.

Wanda, I love your shop and your spirit! I have enjoyed knowing you and love your shop. I love the Might Mouse towel! I also love the Christmas items you are adding. Those are the things I tend to keep for myself. I do have a few of the plastic reindeer and MANY of the Putz houses. In fact, I am not sure you and I could shop together, as we both love some of the same items. Much success to you wherever life takes you!
