Shop of the Week- MissMagpiesShoppe 5

This week’s Shop of the Week is MissMagpiesShoppe, owned by Ginger.

What is the meaning behind your shop name?

The magpie bird is said to be a collector. Whether that is true or not, I don’t know, but I do enjoy collecting pretty things for my nest (home). As I am a bit of an organized hoarder, using a magpie for my branding just seemed like the natural way to go.
How did you get your start selling vintage?

I have always been a homemaker and homeschooling mom. When my boys left home, I decided I needed something to fill my empty nest. As I have fibromyalgia and Meniere’s disease (a disease that caused me to lose my hearing), an online shop appealed to me. I’ve never regretted the decision to open my Etsy shop, it has brought much joy and beauty into my life.

What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?

I delight in old blue and white china, I can’t imagine a home without it. I love the cozy and comforting atmosphere it lends to a home. These beautiful saucers are favorites of mine:

Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you? I do! I now have my own personal website at http://www.missmagpiesshoppe.com

About Mary - PassedBy

I have always enjoyed finding and using vintage items in my home, and am especially fond of vintage linens with embroidery or handwork details. I collect a wide variety of vintage goods including classroom memorabilia and toys. As a seller, I try to follow the advice - buy what you love. This makes it so much easier to create an online shop with vintage items I would gladly use in my own home.

    Ginger,

I love that you too have found your Etsy shop to be a way to define you, after your children left home. Mine are starting to fly away and I am proud that I now am more than ‘mom.’ I love your shop, however, I have decided that we could never shop together. We tend to like the same things. It might turn ugly when we ‘fight’ over the same items. :))))

Having a friend with both fibromyalgia and Meniere’s, tho not both, like you! I applaud your effort to keep active and focused on something else. It is not easy living with either of those. I hope that you have more pain-free days, than pained. xo

Your shop name fits so perfectly, and all the items in your shop fit so well together. You DO find beautiful treasures from the past! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you, and wish you continued success with your shops!
