Center Stage: Vintage Renude 9

A very warm welcome to our featured shop run by one of our Vintage Etsy Society leaders, Pam!

Name: Pam
Age: Old enough to know better, young enough not to care

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

For 17 years I owned a beautiful Coyote named Moonshine. She was rescued from her den (it was about to be flooded out) at about 4 weeks old and fit in the palm of my hand when I got her.

How long have you been selling on Etsy?
I started selling on Etsy in March 2011.

Why is Etsy special to you? Why did you choose Etsy as your selling venue?
I did lots of research before setting up my shop on Etsy. It was the only selling venue where I found a sense of community and camaraderie that had a positive non-judgmental attitude. Those things are very important to me. I tend to be unconventional and Etsy allows me to be myself as well as play to my alter ego.

How did you choose your shop name?
My shop name is a play on words, I wanted people to immediately know that what I sell is vintage so I definitely wanted the word “Vintage” in the name, but I also wanted a bit of fun. Renude, is a play on words to remind people to reuse, recycle, and renew but just a bit tongue in cheek.

How or why did you become involved with vintage?
I have loved and appreciated vintage since I was a little girl. I was always fascinated by my grandmothers’ style and the beautiful things she collected over the years. Many of which I still own. I have been collecting vintage linens since I was young and started my collection of vintage Fiesta Ware at 18 when my Grandmother passed away and I inherited her household goods to set up my own first home. When I was a young girl my mother collected china teacups and saucers and would take me to the Goodwill store in downtown Los Angeles to scour for pieces to add to her collection. At that time the store had an upstairs with two rooms, one filled with china, silver, and crystal, and one with vintage clothing, and accessories. While she shopped for china, I shopped for everything else.

What sort of items are you drawn to as you stock your shop? What will I find when I visit you?
My shop reflects the softer more feminine side of me that most people never see. I am drawn to things my alter ego loves, vintage purses, dresses, jewelry, linens, small household knick-knacks, and vintage craft and sewing supplies. Somewhere inside me lies a crafty person trying to get out.

What does customer service mean to you?
I have worked in customer service in one way or another since I was 13 and had my first job. Customer service means everything to me. Without my customers, I have no business. I was taught the Nordstrom style of customer service early on and have practiced it ever since.

What has been your best/favorite experience so far in selling on Etsy?
My favorite experience with Etsy so far has been finding and becoming a part of this team. There are so many wonderful people here and the team allows me to do so many of the things I love, helping others, organizing the Pinterest account and boards, working on projects with other team leaders, and just being a part of the community. Thank you, Martha, for creating such a wonderful place to be myself and meet others who teach me new things every day.
