Shop of the Week- Autena 1

This week’s shop, Autena, is owned by Megan. Her wonderful shop is an eclectic mix of vintage trinkets, treasures, and one-of-a-kinds.     https://www.etsy.com/shop/autena

Please tell us a little about you and your shop.

I grew up in a house filled with treasures of all sorts, many inherited through generations, others lovingly collected during trips throughout the US and Europe. So I had an ingrained appreciation for vintage and antique pieces, both large and small. I too began collecting, and when my parents began downsizing years ago, I became the owner of several of the things that had been in the cupboards and on the walls of my childhood home.

Autena is an amalgamation of these pieces, with some more recent discoveries thrown in. I love the eclectic nature of what is carried there; combining brass stencil numbers with vintage gloves, fishing lures, and wine labels. No specialization, but rather a “what will I find here?” mentality appeals more to my sensibilities.

What is your favorite era and why?

I don’t really have a favorite era, but am most attracted to primitive and rustic styles — authentic, of course, not the reproductions found everywhere these days — both in furniture and decorative things. The simple charm and unadorned practicality are what attracts me.

What is your favorite item in your shop at the moment?

The French jewelry casket featuring a Limoges portrait of St. Fabiola is my favorite item in my shop. www.etsy.com/listing/194588142/french-antique-jewelry-casket-st-fabiola?… It was an old family piece, well-loved and held onto for so long and I just adore the verdigris, the chipped medallion, and the broken hinge too. https://www.etsy.com/assets/js/etsy_mini_shop.jsnew Etsy.Mini(5904704,’thumbnail’,3,5,1,’https://www.etsy.com’);
