This week’s featured shop is Tim and Kim Show.
Tim and I have worked together doing something creative almost from the time we met. We have designed and manufactured a men’s beach and casual clothing called Classic Beach, owned retail stores, gutted and remodeled several homes… The love of vintage has always been a part of me but became important to both of us when we were outfitting our clothing store. We were on a tight budget and wanted a certain casual beach vibe to compliment our wares so we hit the southern California flea markets in earnest. The result was magical to us and struck a interest with our customers. Before I knew it, I was designing home interiors for our customers that reflected their casual surf and beach lifestyles.
After we had our two kids and a moved cross country to live the small beach town life in Florida, I became a full time mom doing the occasional design job and remodeling homes with Tim. As the kids grew older and more independent (one is in college now, wow!) I longed for a connection to the vintage items that was such a huge part of my life in California, so Tim and Kim Show was born.
What is your favorite era and why?
We are drawn to items across many styles but primarily live with an eclectic mix of mid century modern, industrial and tropical pieces. Mid Century is what you will find in our shop as well. We will add the occasional addition of Hollywood Regency or Mid Century Kitsch items to round out our offerings. It is said often by Etsy shop owners that they only stock what they love and that is certainly true of Tim and Kim Show. I would be in heaven to live in a quirky converted commercial building filled with mcm walnut furniture, library book carts, metal shelving units, Mawal chalk hula heads, and a crazy array of mid century lights. The odd mix reflects who we are and isn’t that what design is truly about?
Eclectic is a great way to live!
What is your favorite item in your shop at the moment and why?
Picking a favorite is tough for me. It is usually the latest treasure we have found. But if I had to name one, it would be the three Lightolier chrome light fixtures. I adore seeing lights like this hung in multiples and it is rare to find more than one at a time.
