Shop of the Week – OldStoneFarmhouse 4

This week’s Shop of the Week is OldStoneFarmhouse, owned by Linnea.

What is the meaning behind your shop name?

I have always admired the limestone houses in my area. In my younger days I hoped to live in one and fill it with antiques. We ended up building a house in the country and this is where we will live forever. So I created a virtual old stone farmhouse to fill with antiques.

What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?

My favorite item at the moment in my shop is the tobacco cutter. The detailed artwork on the piece and the arrow shape is fantastic.

What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?

As many of you know, this is my second shop (and the somewhat neglected shop). My primary shop is BrooklynStVintage which I was listing more in than this shop. So my answer is somewhat limited, I think the ironstone pieces that I sell are very amazing. Some are from the 1800s. Lately, I have wondered what was talked about at the dinner table over these platters? Who was the president at the time? One I listed recently I looked up and the platter was new when president Millard Fillmore or Franklin Pierce were in office. That’s amazing!

Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?

No, I find that the two shops, working part time, and being Grandma is almost more than I can handle. I would love to expand once I retire.

About Mary - PassedBy

I have always enjoyed finding and using vintage items in my home, and am especially fond of vintage linens with embroidery or handwork details. I collect a wide variety of vintage goods including classroom memorabilia and toys. As a seller, I try to follow the advice - buy what you love. This makes it so much easier to create an online shop with vintage items I would gladly use in my own home.
