Meet Our New Members – February 2016 2

Hello everyone and welcome to Leap Year. This month we get an extra day to enjoy. Hope you were able to take full advantage of it. Let’s meet our new members for February 2016. Please stop by each of their shops and give them a bit of love and if you see them on the team threads, say hello!

Here we go:

Lets start with one member we missed from last month:

Liz of Tattooed Sisters Antiques

How were you introduced to the the Vesties Team?

I was introduced to the Vesties by another seller with whom I’ve become friends although our faces have not yet met (that’s coming soon!). We’ve been on other teams and she had great things to say about Vesties.

What made you want to join?

I’ve been on several other teams and found their promotional threads way too time-consuming. My life is crazy busy right now with two jobs, the prospect of moving, trying to keep the shop going and growing, and my six furkids. I could look at Etsy shops all day if I had the luxury of the time that takes; I enjoy promoting other shops, and do so, but ‘hearting everyone’s everything above you for 24 hours’ isn’t an option.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

Vesties has great threads for sharing information, and the promotional threads are much simpler. I still don’t have the time I’d like to participate fully, but I’m glad to be on board!

Tell us a bit about who you are.

Tattooed Sister’s Antiques is lovingly dedicated to my mom, Sylvia, who passed in 2013 at age 95. One of Mom’s favorite things to do was “pokey around” in an antique shop; she gave me my love and respect for all things old.

My mission is to re-home antiques where they will be appreciated and preserved. I believe in doing what I Iove and along with it, doing my small part to leave this world a little bit better for my having been here. I call it “earning your breathing space” 🙂

I’ve met so many lovely people in the almost-two-years (can that be?) I’ve been selling on Etsy – customers and other sellers both. I feel like I’ve finally found what I love doing, and I’m working towards someday being able to do it ‘full time’.

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I was introduced to this team as I browsed through vintages items I loved and shops that I admired and respected from their photos and businesses . I wanted to become a part of a team that had the same goals that I have for my shop.

What made you want to join?

The wonderful shops on this team!

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I would like to be in a community that supports each other by helping to promote our shops. To do this I expect to be involved in team threads, making Treasuries, and participating in heart promotions.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

I am a stay-at-home , homeschooling mom of three busy boys! At first, I started my Etsy store because I wanted to send my husband, our brothers, dad’s and some of his closest friends to a mountain retreat for a weekend for his 40th birthday. I didn’t want to use “his” money to do it so I hatched a plan to earn some money to fund that trip. I have always loved vintage and pickin’! It was so much fun I just couldn’t stop after I had funded the trip! I love to find special items that make someone’s day or collection. I pick with my Dad, husband (only because he loves me, not by choice 🙂 , and my three boys!

Rheta of Vintage Eves

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I was introduced to the Vesties Team by Twitter. I am on a number of social media sites growing my brand and Twitter is a major piece of that puzzle. In looking for and following other vintage lovers and sellers, the Vesties Team was a suggestion by Twitter. I then looked for them on Etsy.

What made you want to join?

I joined the team because of the discussions it offered. I love to help other team members grow their business but I also like advice on how to grow my own business.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I am looking forward to participating in discussions and supporting my other team members. I love to blog and hope to contribute to the team blog, as well.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

I am a mom of two teens, a special education teacher and lover of vintage. One of my greatest thrills is to find a previously loved item in a thrift store and find out its history – then sell it in my store! My store was started to support my thrifting habit and bring in some extra money but I really love watching it grow.

Sue of Tiny Dog Vintage Shop

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I was introduced to the Vesties Team by Terri from 2ndHandChicc, we became friends a few months ago and she has given me so much wonderful advice and encouragement which I’m really grateful for. Terri recommended the Vesties Team to me as a great place to meet like minded people.

What made you want to join?

I am keen to join a team where I can meet people who are interested in similar things to me as I would like to be able to share information and ideas. I have a passion for vintage, especially jewelry and have learnt so much already since opening my shop.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I’m looking forward to joining in with some of the team threads and getting to know everyone. I will definitely be entering the photo competition, what a great idea and such a good way to swap photography tips!

Tell us a bit about who you are.

I live in a small village near Colchester, in the south of England. My family are very important to me, we are a small family but close, perhaps a little too close sometimes as my parents live next door but it’s handy as we all look out for each other. We have a little dog who I adore, she is tiny and her name is Nelly, I named the shop after her and managed to combine two of my many passions in one place. I have lots of hobbies, too many really and not enough time to indulge in all of them as much as I would like, they include knitting, travel, photography, reading and of course collecting vintage everything! I also work, I have three part time jobs and thoroughly enjoy all of them, I support people with learning difficulties to live in their own homes.

Bonnie of Prairie Vintage Finds

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I found Vesties through a bit of hunting. I was included in a treasury that was really spectacular and so I decided to find out which teams that person was a part of – and that’s where I found Vesties.

What made you want to join?

After finding the team page I read through the information and decided it was exactly what I needed. I’m not all that social media savvy and could really use some help promoting my store off of Etsy. Also, I liked that the team had a purely vintage focus.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I plan to contribute to threads – still need to explore them more closely to see which ones – but definitely the ones where I can ask questions! I also love doing treasuries and while poking my nose around a bit saw the weekly photo contest which I plan to submit an item for in the future since I’m always trying to improve my photos for my store.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

Well, in real life I’m a full time school psychologist and dog mom (my human child is grown and on her own…mostly). The vintage bug has been with me since I can remember. I was always dragging something out of the barn and up to the house, thinking of all kinds of ways the item could be useful. I also grew up tagging along with my Granddaddy to flea markets (he had an antiques store on his front porch) and with my Dad to estate sales. I love the thrill of the hunt!

Karen of Circa C20

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I saw that a few of my favorite shops were Vesties members so I looked up the team and read the About section and thought it would be a good fit for me.

What made you want to join?

In January of this year I was able to spend more time on my shop and knew I had to join some teams to start to meet people and get help. I searched through several teams but ultimately wanted to apply to the Vesties team based on your requirements and # of members. It seemed like you had the community feel and knowledge I was looking for!

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I really enjoy the challenges and making Treasuries. I am fairly new to the Vintage business but hope that I can help others in some way.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

I previously worked in biotechnology as an analytical chemist but left to start a family. My husband and I decided to live more simply on one income so now I can stay home with my 2 girls. Because of my love for vintage and antiques, I started circaC20 last April and have just recently been able to devote more time to it. I love what I do and feel really lucky to have a husband that supports my adventure!
