This week’s Shop of the Week is TreasuredPrimitives , owned by Jennifer.
I have a passion for the old treasures that are worn, tattered, overlooked, or forgotten. Treasured Primitives seemed to fit my love perfectly. I want shoppers to feel as if they are stepping back to a simpler time, when they are browsing my shop.
How did you get your start selling vintage?
I began my shop Treasured Primitives primarily to sell my own designed handmade primitive folk art, but it quickly evolved into a combined shop with both my folk art and vintage finds. My husband and I have been collectors of antiques since we were first married. We love the hunt for those treasures that make your heart skip a beat and stop you in your tracks. Our old house was built in the late 1800s and is a perfect fit with our love of time worn treasures. However, our house is quite small and so I hunt for treasures so that other collectors can enjoy and appreciate my latest finds. It’s a thrill to find a gem and know that someone special out there will love these handpicked treasures and so the hunt continues on.
What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?
I am in love with this vintage white scale. I love its simple lines and design. Lately I have really been drawn to old chippy white painted treasures. It has just the right amount of worn charm and appeal that catches my eye. It would make a great display piece with its large pan and black printed graphics.
What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?
This is one of those treasures that I wish I would have kept for myself, but I have to keep reminding myself, we just can not keep it all. This little antique slate board sold to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It had the sweetest design with lovely flowers and ruler marking engraved in the wood. Oh, it was love at first sight !!
SOLD!
Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?
At this point in time I only sell on Etsy, but am considering my own website to partner with my Etsy store.
