Meet our new members August 2016 6

We have some new members who joined us in August, lets meet them and find out a little about who they are and their shops.

isla_280x280.16060824_pmsqnrypFirst up, lets meet Lulu of CasaNero. Lulu is in Northern Toronto and sells a variety of vintage items including ceramics, buttons, books, and fabrics. Lulu has two shops on Etsy, her other shop is Attirely Vintage where she sells vintage clothing.

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I was introduced to the team while doing a team search.

What made you want to join?

Since you have a very high vintage home décor based curriculum I thought our store would be a good fit.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I’m not really sure. I am a fairly new seller and only sell small items in a very narrow field. I love patterns, especially Old wallpaper and Fabrics. My hometown was a big manufacturer of wallpaper and paint. Perhaps it’s something in the water?

Tell us a bit about who you are.

I have a background in fine art. It’s what I went to school for and went back to school to study in my mid to late thirties. I have a very good eye for color but there are so many names of tints, shades and tones it’s a job to keep up. I love old things. Antiques and vintage, they smell of past memories and previous lives. So I search for items that whisper or yell to me and I pass them on to new owners!

isla_280x280.20082193_apz5z3vbNow lets me Trish who owns BirdhouseBooks her shop specializes in vintage children’s books and vintage greeting cards.

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I found it through a search for vintage teams.

What made you want to join?

I really liked the description!

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I would like to help promote team members’ shops, and I also LOVE social media.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

My name is Trish. I live in the deep south and sell vintage children’s books and ephemera (LOVE holiday cards). I grew up in a family that went antiquing on vacations, and have a lifelong love of all things old – especially cute and whimsical vintage items. When I’m not on Etsy, I enjoy blogging at View from the Birdhouse (www.birdhouse-books.com), reading, and playing with my Dachshund/Jack Russell mix dog, Abby.

isla_280x280.16100754_iki96b0yNext up is Lynn who runs the shop A Marigold Life where she sells a variety of vintage items and specializes in handmade nests.

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I found out about the Vesties team from a friend of mine here on Etsy who is on other teams with me, Laurie from Metro Cottage……

What made you want to join?

I wanted to join because she had told me it was a great team with genuine people that are very helpful and care a great deal about the team and its members…..so many teams today are just not that way!

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

I’d love to be able to participate in the wonderful discussions that go on there on the team, now that my son is back in school I will have time to go back and read back into some of the great discussions going on there and get all caught up on them so I can contribute also….

Tell us a bit about who you are.

About me….I am wife and mom married to my soul mate for almost 30 years now…and if that was not an adventure enough we have two kids, a daughter that is 21 and a son that is 16. I am a vintage loving creative who see many things not just as they are but what they can possibly be! Now that I am at that point where my kids aren’t around as much due to their busy schedules… I am planning on taking my handmade and vintage passion to the next level at some vintage shows in the future along with my talented husband. I am very much looking forward to the next phase of A Marigold Life……

isla_280x280.22313031_7osnoq0hOur next new member is Chandra who’s shop is Man in the Paper Moon where she sells everything from vintage clothing to housewares.

How were you introduced to the Vesties Team?

I saw the Vesties team on another sellers profile. Someone who sells a lot. I aspire to get to that one day.

What made you want to join?

I wanted to be part of a team that was more active and did more than just posting new stuff and fave each others first page posts. Also, seeing another seller being part of the team.. a very active seller… I figured, she must be doing something right. Let me give this team a try.

How do you see yourself participating in the team?

As far as me participating… I’m still learning about all that. But reading the blog, following threads, asking and maybe even answering (if I know the answer anyhow) questions… even supporting other team members by liking their facebook posts or instagram posts… etc etc. sharing other team members info on my facebook. I’m still learning the whole team thing… and even though I’ve been on etsy since 2009. the shop was inactive for over six years.

Tell us a bit about who you are.

As far as who I am. I was raised in Oregon. Moved to Tennessee to get my bachelors degree in art. Ive always collected vintage clothes, even if it didnt fit me. I was raisedby my mom and around my grandmother, great grandmother, and even great great grandmother. and that completely had an influence on why I love vintage. All the stories and pictures and their antiques they used to show me. Not to mention all the black and white movies.
I work as a hairstylist now after doing art restoration for about seven years. But it isnt my first pick. I like it, but I dont LOVE it. not the way I loved restoration (which isnt a job option anymore) Art/antiques are what I love most. I really really want to make etsy my main income. I know some people do it. I dont know how possible that is with a vintage shop. But I plan on giving it my best. I even cut back my hours at the salon to be able to work harder on etsy. I’m really serious about it.

That might be more than you wanted to know. But thank you again and I look forward to … being part of the team!

isla_280x280.18692342_nitrnfnwLast lets me Karen of Retro Do Da who sells vintage home goods and decor.

I love vintage and shopping at thrift stores, yardsales etc and I used to sell antiques and what nots at a large antique mall in NJ years ago. So now that I am semi retired here in Florida I am continuing my little recycle passion by selling here on Etsy at Retro Do Da. So much fun!

About Pam - VintageRenude

Some of my earliest memories are of digging through my Grandma's buttons, hankies, and jewelry. She taught me to see the beauty in everyday items made to last.
