Shop of the Week- Always Maybe Vintage 4

This week’s Shop of the Week is alwaysmaybevintage,

owned by Missy.

What is the meaning behind your shop name?

There really isn’t a significant meaning to my shop name, but there is a story behind it. When I first opened my Etsy store, the first several names I chose were already being used on Etsy. After much discussion, and several indecisive hours, my husband actually came up with the name ‘Always Maybe Vintage’, because I can never make up my mind and always seem to have trouble settling on a decision. Hence, ‘Always Maybe’… I guess it just stuck, and now it seems to fit my shop quite nicely.

How did you first get started selling vintage?

I’ve had a love for vintage for as long as I can remember. My mom was always finding and restoring vintage pieces. Growing up, our home was full of her antique treasures, and I grew to love them too. I’ve always loved hunting for vintage treasures and enjoy finding beauty in the past.

I started selling on Etsy when a dear friend of mine, who knew of my love affair with all things vintage, encouraged me to give it a try. It was a perfect way to start small and slow, and grow at my own pace. I had never even heard of Etsy, but it seemed like a great opportunity and the perfect way to channel some of my creativity and put my junking habit to good use.  I was hooked.

I do try to keep my shop small and manageable…my goal has always been to manage my shop well, and for it not to manage me.

What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?

One of my favorite items in my shop right now is this sweet old mirrored medicine cabinet. I absolutely LOVE vintage mirrors…I love how they add depth and light to a room at the same time. My home is filled with them, and my shop is usually filled with them too. This one is such a charmer, and functional too. Cute, sturdy, storage, and I just can’t resist the chippy white paint.

What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?

I think one of the most unusual items I have sold in my shop is this awesome silver plated 1920’s loving cup for best of show in a national chicken competition. The inscription on the side reads,’Nat’l P.C. Buff Orpington Club Special Best of Show’Gotta love that.

Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?

Right now, you can only find me on Etsy. I would definitely love to expand in the future, and hope to one day have my own website. I am always open to new ideas and opportunities.

What social media platforms do you use?
As of now, I only have a personal pinterest page with an ‘Always Maybe Vintage’ board. I have been a little slow to embrace social media, and I realize I have much to learn and a lot of catching up to do! I will be sure to keep the Vestiesteam up to date! You can find me at www.pinterest.com/alwaysmaybe/.

About Mary - PassedBy

I have always enjoyed finding and using vintage items in my home, and am especially fond of vintage linens with embroidery or handwork details. I collect a wide variety of vintage goods including classroom memorabilia and toys. As a seller, I try to follow the advice - buy what you love. This makes it so much easier to create an online shop with vintage items I would gladly use in my own home.
