This week’s Shop of the Week is ThatRetroGirl, owned by Amie.
What is the meaning behind your shop name?
It is inspired by the TV show ‘That Girl’ with Marlo Thomas in the late 60’s which I adored. Retro is a word I use a lot in my titles and descriptions so it all made sense.
How did you get your start selling vintage?
When I was a child I always loved antiques. We would go to flea markets before it was fashionable. In fact it was one of the main family activities. After my mother died it was up to me to figure out what to do with 50 years of collecting so I opened an Etsy shop and never looked back.
What is your favorite item in your shop right now, and what makes it special to you?
There are a few of them but right now I would have to say this vintage blue hippo. I am really getting attached to this guy. He looks so friendly. If he does not sell he will live on my desk.
What is the most unusual or amazing item you have sold from your shop?
This Navajo Eye Dazzler rug from the southwest. This hands down is the most favorite item I have ever had. It sold at least 4 years ago and I still get views everyday.
SOLD!
Do you sell your items at other venues outside of Etsy? If so, where can we find you?
No, I do not sell outside of Etsy, occasionally I will sell something on Ebay if I think it has a chance.

I so enjoyed reading Amie’s story, especially how she came up with “ThatRetroGirl” as her shop name. As a great fan of “That Girl,” I can certainly relate. Awesome shop and fab listings. Kudos!
Thanks, Mary as PassedBy for posting. Happy New Year!
