The entire month of May is “Get Caught Reading” month. This reading challenge was started in 1999 by the Association of American Publishers to encourage everyone to be a book nerd. Over the years, the organization has featured photos of hundreds of celebrities enjoying a book on posters which you may have spotted in libraries and schools. It is currently sponsored by Every Child a Reader and the Lois Lenski Covey Foundation and you can get more details at www.getcaughtreading.org.
There is just something about having your hands curled around a real good book and being nestled in your favorite reading nook that is relaxing and soothing. You can borrow one from a friend, check one out at the public library, or own your own vintage copy by searching the book listings in Etsy’s Vintage category.
Whatever your reading genre is—and the possibilities are endless—GET CAUGHT READING!
Check out these ways I caught the Vesties encouraging us to read!
Thank you Carissa, Carpebellus for this post!
A fun “bookie” article! Thank you 🙂
Lovely post, Carissa! I love to read and have quite a large book collection.I never heard of Get Caught Reading month though. Good to know!
A fun article, I love reading! I’m currently reading a mystery series where the main character owns an antique shop and lives in a Victorian mansion with her super cute cat. Go figure!
There’s nothing like curling up with a good book! Great article Carissa. Thanks for including me.
Love the theme. I’m a big reader myself and hope today’s kids can pull themselves away from electronic devices long enough to discover the joys of reading. Thanks for including my bookends.
Adore old books! Very warm and cozy collection, perfect for a rainy spring day of reading!
Nothing like a good book in your hands. I have a huge stack of books “to read” always sitting on my bedside.
So used to seeing vintage books stacked as a design element, forgot there is a wonderful read on the inside!
Just recently picked up a beautifully illustrated book of Grand Opera with many musical scores circa 1946.
