Match Game: Love Me Do 18

valentines day vintage

1940s vintage valentines from JanesVintageToo on Etsy.

Introducing Match Game, the Vesties team way to strut their awesome vintage by matching the theme of the week.

Here’s how it works:

  • a weekly theme is concocted and posted on MONDAY
  • you reply to the challenge post with ONE item from your shop (Etsy or your own site) and a few words about why you chose that item.
  • at the end of the week, our own highly Selective Linda will create a collage with some of her favorite submissions.

Jump in, have fun. This week’s challenge is a little predictable for early February, but you know, sometimes you have to bow to tradition. Fair warning: you never know what the weekly challenge will be, expect surprises.

When you’re knocking on the door of Valentine’s Day, your thoughts turn to those icons of the holiday: gnat-like mythological gods shooting arrows, big ruffly boxes of bonbons, slightly risqué lingerie, generously sized tins of bonbons, cards both sassy and sweet, footed bonbon dishes full of bonbons. And red. Anything and everything cardinal, pink, salmon, fuchsia, magenta, scarlet, vermilion and all the colors that fit between them.

This week’s Match Game challenge is to post one item from your shop that says Valentine’s Day to you and explain to our readers why you chose that particular piece of vintage. It can be one of the icons, something you would love to receive or something you would be inclined to give. Let your imagination run wild.

Here’s a few Vesties picks to fire up your creative juices:
